ヒューストンの郊外にあるベントウォーターという街で日本料理などを教えているユーバンクス美由紀さんと、ヒューストン日系人会会長の武智真二さんにお世話になりました。ニューヨークやロサンゼルス、サンフランシスコなどの大都市と違い、テキサスではほとんど皆、日本文化の知識がありません。そういう中で、落語をどう伝えていくか、演者としてよい勉強になりました。

We are grateful to Miyuki Eubanks, who teaches Japanese cuisine in the city of Bentwater on the outskirts of Houston, and Shinji Takechi, the chairman of the Japanese American Association of New York. Unlike big cities like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, almost everyone in Texas has no knowledge of Japanese culture. Under such circumstances, it was a good opportunity for us to learn how to convey rakugo.
