殿様の昼食時のこと。
殿様： 三太夫、桜鯛を持ってきてくれぬか。
三太夫： はは、ここにございます。
殿様は一口箸をつけます。
殿様： 三太夫、代わりを持て。
三太夫は代わりの鯛を用意していません。
三太夫： 庭の桜をご覧あそばせ。
満開でございます。
殿が桜を見ている隙に、三太夫は鯛をひっくり返します。
三太夫： 殿、代わりでございます。
殿様： 先ほどの鯛と同じくらい美味である。代わりをもて。
三太夫： ええ...
殿様： いかがいたした、三太夫？また余が桜を見ようか？
Script
It’s lunch time for the lord.
Lord: Sandayu, bring me a red snapper.
Sandayu: Here you are, sir.
The lord took a bite.
Lord: Sandayu, bring me another.
Sandayu didn’t prepare another fish for the lord.
Sandayu: Lord, why don’t you take a look at the cherry trees over there?
They are in full bloom now.
While the lord was taking a look at the cherry trees, Sandayu turned over the fish.
Sandayu: Lord, here’s another snapper.
The lord took a bite.
Lord: Sandayu, Bring me the next.
Sandayu: Well…
Lord: Sandayu what’s wrong? Do you want me to look at the cherry trees again?
